Introduction to the DMDS
The Digital Media Design Studio is a collaborative and interdisciplinary learning environment for creating course-related multimedia presentations, projects and portfolios.
The Studio provides services, technologies and instructional support for digitizing and remixing various resources, enabling users to create new digital content.

Hardware
Multimedia Computers:
7 MacPros and 2 iMacs with
- Mini-DV players
- Digital video converters
- VHS/DVD decks
- Speakers, microphones and headphones.
- Photo/text scanner
Audio Digitization Station:
For the transfer of analog to digital formats:
- 1 PC
- Amplifier
- 33 1/3 rpm turntable
- Stereo cassette player
- CD player
- Speakers and headphone.
Still and Video Cameras
The digital still camera may be borrowed for in-Library use. Two mini-DV camcorders circulate outside the Library, but must be returned the same day before the DMDS closes.

Recording studios
Based on your equipment needs, you may be required to book an appointment with a DMDS staff person while using the audio and video recording studios.
Studio Guidelines- No food or beverages are allowed in the studios.
- All users of the studios must have a current NU ID.
The soundproof studio seats up to five people comfortably. Software includes GarageBand and Logic Pro. Hardware includes a MacPro, a 4-channel Mackie mixing board, an Oxygen 8 USB midi keyboard, and a condenser microphone.
Video Recording Studio- Room 210
The soundproof studio accommodates individuals and small groups. A green screen is mounted on the wall. A professional quality three-point lighting kit is also available by appointment for use in the DMDS.
The Video Recording Studio can be used simultaneously with the Audio Studio, depending on your production.
