Ruth Page Sweet was born in Worcester MA in 1894. She attended the Boston School of Physical Education (diploma), and Boston University (bachelor of science in education and master of science in education). As director of health and physical education for the Y.W.C.A., she served in Rochester NY, Worcester MA, and Boston before accepting the position of dean of the Bouvé-Boston School of Physical Education. Dean from 1929 until 1946, she became director of the School in 1946 and served in that position until her death in 1958.

In June of 1958, Miss Sweet was awarded an honorary Doctor of Education from Tufts University.
