Dance had a long history at the School, being considered an excellent method of teaching grace, coordination, and rhythm. Aesthetic swimming was a more recent addition, but drew nearly as strong a following. Click here for a more in-depth look at these two athletic pursuits.

The Boston School of Physical Education began by teaching gymnastics; athletic activity was an essential element of the School from the very beginning, and sporting activities were a central part of the course of study throughout the years. Physical education students learned the basic of over 20 sports, while all students participated in interschool competitions.
