Until 1958,
resident students lived in houses rented by the school and administered
by house mothers. One house was reserved for freshmen, and the other houses
had a mix of the remaining classes. Living in such close proximity, the
students of each house formed small communities, putting on their own
social events and fostering close bonds of friendship between girls.
In 1958,
the Ruth Page Sweet dormitory opened on the Tufts University campus, and
housed all the upperclass Bouvé students. After the move to Northeastern
University, Bouvé students were assimilated into University housing.
