Honor Code

Bouvé's
code of student conduct was fairly strict, although not out of line with
those of other all-women's schools of the same time periods. Dress codes,
curfews, academic honesty - all were covered by the Honor Code. Unusually,
the Honor Code was completely self-policing; students were required to
turn themselves in for infractions. Students did not inform on each other;
instead, students who witnessed an infraction were to encourage the offender
to turn herself in to the Honor Board.
The Honor
Code was presented to the incoming freshmen both as a printed pamphlet
and as a series of sketches and presentations made during Orientation
Week. At the end of the week, the freshmen took a quiz to ensure that
they understood the code and how to live by it.
