For many years as a matter of pride and tradition, each Bouvé class created at least one class song. Some were silly; some were serious. Most classes wrote new words for a currently popular song, although some classes created both new words and music. Some classes also adapted popular songs for use at ceremonial occasions, such as commencement or lilac-planting or Moving-Up Day. One such song, "Follow the Gleam," was used for Moving-Up Day.
