The founders of the Boston School of Physical Education had gone to school at the turn of the century, in an era when singing for fun was a popular pastime. Because they had sung at school, their studentsdid, too. Bouvé students sangfight songs, class songs, songs written for skits and casual performance, and even songs written in honor of the school founders.

Each class had a song leader, as did the school as a whole. The Blue and White teams also had song leaders, who played a major role in building team identity and pride.
