When the
Boston School of Physical Education was formed, there were two other schools
of physical education in the Boston area: the Sargent School at Boston
University, and the Posse-Nissen school. B.S.P.E. students did play intermural
sports with those schools, but the principal competitions were between
the Blue and the White teams, comprising the two halves of B.S.P.E.'s
body.
The Blue
and White competition was athletic, scholastic, and encompassed school
spirit in general. Freshmen were assigned to a team at orientation, and
the Blue and White competed all year, accumulating points for each achievement.
The winning teamwas announced at Class Day at the end of the year.
