Camp was a mix of the rigor of school and the playfulness of summer camp. Campers spent all of their time with their classmates, fostering a degree of closeness beyond even what the small classes created during the school year. Awards earned at camp took on a special significance and seriousness; the camaraderie also found its way into outbursts of silliness, particularly at camp shows.
