invited Boston’s African American business and community leaders
to participate in hearings to identify issues of concern in the
black community in order to make policy recommendations to Governor-elect
Michael Dukakis. The hearings were held in 1982 by the "Warren
Commission," a political advocacy group led by Joseph D. Warren
that worked to improve the social and economic conditions of African
