Urban Renewal

Housing for All of Our People conference summary (1962)

Addressing such topics as "Urban Renewal: Vehicle for Integration" and "Can Housing Desegregation Be Legislated," the conference Housing For All of Our People was sponsored by Governor John A. Volpe and the Fair Housing Federation of Greater Boston in 1962. The conference brought together academics and civic and community leaders to discuss pressing housing issues of the time: white-flight to the suburbs, discrimination against people of color for housing, minorities in public housing, and the impact of urban renewal. From the Phyllis M. Ryan papers.
