Civil Rights Law clipping (1989)
“…Massachusetts has become the second state
in the nation to guarantee lesbians and gay men rights equal to
our fellow citizens.”
On November 15, 1989 Governor Dukakis signed the gay civil rights
bill into law, making it illegal to discriminate on the basis of
sexual orientation in employment, housing, and public accommodations.
