Boston Gayline:
Gay Guide to Boston (1972)
The Gay Guide to Boston provided lists of gay-friendly
bars, restaurants, cinemas, cruising areas, and baths, as well information
on upcoming gay events and Boston gay organizations, ranging from
health services to phone lines and student support groups. The Boston
Gayline was published by the Homophile Union of Boston, a civil
rights and service organization for Boston-area gay people. HUB
was established in 1968 to promote education about gay issues, assist
individuals, and work to remove legal and public discrimination
against homosexuals. HUB dissolved in 1974. From
the William J. Canfield papers.
