Lesbian and Gay Pride news feature (1982)
Over 13,000 people gathered in Copley Square for the 1982 Gay Pride
March through Back Bay and Beacon Hill to the Boston Common. Speakers
at the rally protested President Reagan's administration, claiming
that certain policies contributed to heterosexism and other injustices
towards lesbians and gay men. In addition, Brian McNaught, the Boston
mayoral liaison to the lesbian and gay community, announced at the
parade that Mayor Kevin White signed an executive order to prohibit
discrimination by the city on the basis of sexual orientation. From
the Bromfield Street Educational Foundation records.
