GarageBand is a music editing software developed by Apple, Inc. that allows users to create music and podcasts. It has built in audio filters that can be used for recording instruments and features over 100 virtual, synthesized instruments that can be controlled by a USB or MIDI keyboard, or by an on-screen virtual keyboard. It's latest version, GarageBand '09, also includes a lesson feature on how to play guitar and piano.

Basic video tutorials are available from Apple's GarageBand site.
