Who can use the Virtual Catalog?
What material may be borrowed on the Virtual Catalog?
In general, books and other materials that normally can be checked out are eligible for requesting on the Virtual Catalog. However, each participating library determines which items in its collection are eligible and which are excluded.
Northeastern University affiliates may not request books that are in the Northeastern University Libraries' collections, even if they are currently checked out at Northeastern. Lost books may be requested.
Books that are in reference, course reserve, audio-visual, or other special collections are frequently not available for requesting. If your request is accepted by the Virtual Catalog system, then the system has identified at least one copy that can be requested.
If the book
you want cannot be borrowed on the Virtual Catalog, it may be available through
Interlibrary Loan, or you may borrow it by visiting the library in person, if
you are an eligible borrower there.
What about journals and article copies?
Journals and other serials are not included in the Virtual Catalog. Instead, submit an Interlibrary Loan request for article copies.
How long does it take to get something?
If the material
you requested is available at the first library identified, it should be ready
for pickup about a week after your original request.
Where do I pick up and return material?
You will receive
an email notice when the material has been received at Northeastern. Come to
the circulation desk at the Law Library, or the Snell or Burlington Campus Library; you will need
your Husky ID or library card to check the material out. When you are done using
it, please return material to the same Desk where you checked it out.
