An American-born painter who now lives in England, James Gemmill spent many years as a scenic artist for the film industry. He has created portraits, landscapes, and still lifes, as well as large-scale murals and trompe l'oeil scenic effects for many movies, including Atonement (2007), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). Gemmill has also worked with architects, designers, and homeowners to provide interior decor for numerous properties. He has had many solo exhibitions in galleries and museums, including the Albemarle Gallery, London, and Gallery NAGA, Boston. His work is included in public and corporate collections.
