Olga Stamatiou began painting in 1967, at the age of twenty-one. Her formal artistic education started at age eighteen, when she moved to Greece and studied with the painter Ilias Dekoulakos. She returned to the United States in 1976, and embarked on further studies at Boston University's School of Fine Arts, where she received her BFA and MFA degrees in painting. Stamatiou lived in America for the next twenty years, exhibiting work in the United States. In 1997, she returned to Greece. During that time, she had exhibitions in Athens, Greece, and Nice, France. Currently residing in South Carolina, she has formed a nonprofit organization, SEEWALL CHILD. The organization's focus is art installations for children's hospitals.
