Background
The NU Libraries received federal depository designation in 1962 under the sponsorship of Massachusetts Congressman John W. McCormick. As a selective depository, the Libraries receive forty-five percent of the federal publication series available to depository libraries. While the Libraries continue to receive print, compact disc, and microform materials, the Internet is becoming the primary source for government publications.A neighbor institution, the Boston Public Library, is the Regional Depository Library for Massachusetts and receives a complete collection of materials distributed through the depository library program.
