Logging in From Off-Campus

  • Access to journal article, reference and ejournal databases is available by license to NU affiliates, depending on the publisher, for educational use only. A login is required if you are off-campus.
  • To search our catalog, NuCat, connect to http://nucat.lib.neu.edu. Free, no login necessary.
  • Your library account, including book renewal, saving searches, or creating alerts is available by login at myNuCat.

How to log in

Current NU faculty, staff and students (including Distance Ed Students) You will need:

  1. A myneu username and password
  2. A web browser and internet connection.

NU alumni

Consult a list of journal article and research databases available to alumni. Registered NU alumni are eligible for off-campus access to these databases depending on contractual agreement or license. Your library account allows online renewal, saved searches and email alerts.

You will need:

  1. An Alumni Association, Husky Card, or library barcode. See Get registered! to register for library services.
  2. A web browser and internet connection

Common error messages

"Your patron record has expired"
  • If you are currently registered, please contact the Circulation Desk at (617) 373-8778 and we will update your information if it can be verified by the University Registrar.
  • If you are an alumnus/a, you may register as an alumni for library privileges.

"Unable to identify you through your campus identification"
  • There may be a problem with your myNEU account or you typed your password incorrectly.

"Unable to identify you through your library identification"
  • If you are faculty emeritus, NU alumnus/a, reciprocal or special borrower, and have not borrowed books from the library before or recently got a new Husky/library card, your barcode may not be registered in our system. You may come to the Snell or Law Library in person to register your barcode.

“Sorry, the information you submitted was invalid. Please try again.”
  • You are not currently registered, or you registered within the last 3 or 4 days and your registration information has not yet been updated at the library. If you have an immediate need to log in, please contact Library Systems at x7088.

"Sorry, your ID number is invalid (Nexpress)."
  • This error appears in Nexpress when placing orders.
  • You may have entered the wrong myNEU password for your account. Click here to login to myNEU to ensure that you're using the correct password.
