Apply for a Boston Library Consortium (BLC) Card

If your work requires use of materials not available at Northeastern, you may apply for a Boston Library Consortium (BLC) card which will enable you to borrow materials from other BLC member libraries.

Applying for a BLC Card

NU Faculty, Staff and Students may complete the form below to apply for a Boston Library Consortium card online.

  • Forms are processed Monday through Friday.
  • Please allow 24 hours for processing.
  • Come to the Snell Circulation Desk to sign for and pick up your card.

NU Distance Ed students: please fax a signed copy of the .pdf version of this form to (617-373-5409), and a BLC card will be mailed to you.

Using your card

  1. You will need to register at any Boston Library Consortium (BLC) library from which you wish to borrow materials.
  2. Borrowing privileges and expiration dates vary at each institution. The lending library may set a shorter expiration date than the one appearing on your card, which is August 31 of each year.
  3. Please note that there are different loan periods and fine structures at each library. You are responsible for any charges you accrue.
  4. Failure to abide by lending library rules may result in loss of library privileges at all Consortium libraries.
  5. Fill out the form below to renew an existing Consortium card.
  6. Consortium Cards are not transferable.
